Vision
& Mission
The
purpose of Serenity, Inc. is to create
a safe place to gather for mutual
support, to provide leadership and
training opportunities, connect people
with mental illness to helpful resources,
and educate the community about mental
illness in order to reduce stigma.
We will support and help other consumers
to live independently.
Primary
Programs and Activities
Leadership
All members of Serenity are
encouraged to participate in a variety
of leadership opportunities promoted
at Serenity. Members can volunteer
to help plan, organize, lead, teach
and clean-up after activities. Members
are also encouraged to serve on Serenity’s
board of directors or various committees.
Education
& Training
Serenity offers its members
a variety of education and training
programs and support groups designed
to help increase knowledge and skills
that they can use in their daily lives.
Serenity also promotes education in
the community to increase awareness
of its programs and services, as well
as to increase knowledge about mental
health issues and reduce stigma of
mental illness.
Research
Serenity conducts research
on members’ satisfaction with
programs and services offered. Serenity
also partners with Kansas University
to conduct research that gives primary
consumers of mental health a voice
in the treatment and services that
they receive at their community mental
health center. Serenity also partners
in research studies on consumer run
organizations with Wichita State University.
